There was optimism when it was announced that Macca would not be taking charge of the hammers until after the game .. despite a strong performance by us they were simply superior!
We matched them for attempts (18 each) and were prepared to concede possession to work on the game plan.
We were in the game all the way through, pulling back to within 1 goal on 82 mins, but couldnt force in the equaliser.
The Durmus (MOM)- Connolly midfield pairing was a highlight, while Tait and McGrath were also singled out for praise ..

Wow! What a performance from my team! A throroughly deserved result!
9 of the XI put in strong performances and Raingod was pleased to see the desire of the players to be part of the Buddies Revoluotion!
We elected for a more passing game and this suited us.
An exciting first half where we kept our heads up, despite a disallowed goal on 5, and an immediate equaliser from Leipzig, and it was 2-1 to us at the break.
3 goals in 13 minutes put us in a commanding position by the 65th minute.
Flynn was our MOM with a brace despite sitting as a DM!
Target of getting a point on the board in these 1st 2 games exceeded - with 3 taken from 6.

First two games and very happy with 4 points....
AZ67 ALKMAAR 5 - 2 AJ Auxerre
Delighted with first game in charge and positive performance and result.
Gudmundsson (2), Grabban, Romulo and Karlsson scoring the goals, gave up some possession but we took our chances and scored 5 of 8 on target.
Nakamura was immense in goal with 15 saves, good team performance and good abs gained.
AS Monaco 2 - 2 AZ67 ALKMAAR
Was fearing the worst against a strong Monaco side, but we battled well and deserved draw.
Gudmundsson on target with another 2 goals so 4 goals in opening two games, Mbemba sent off was a blow.
Again good team performance and good abs gained.
