What an impressive and unexpected start to the u23 comp for us.
A narrow win against AC Milan which we were mighty lucky to get given the stats and then a rather surprising win against Bayern.
Plenty of goals in this one.
The two teams I played looked really different as rotation is the name of the game in this comp given the number of u23 players in my squad.
A different GK started in each game and both seem to do themselves proud.
I have a heap of u23 players but I don't think I have quite enough to field two teams in the comp so we ill continue to rotate the youngsters so everyone can develop.
Happily surprised by those two wins against very good looking teams.

CHELSEA ACADEMY 1 - 2 Forest Academy
Very disappointed to lose to Forest, we should not be losing to team like Forest.
Work needs to be done, Ballo on target on 42 mins. Poor Performance.
Bayern Academy 1 - 2 CHELSEA ACADEMY
Much better performance, dominated with 67% possession although not much of a game between the two teams.
Bate and Lookman on target, good abs picked up.

Bayern II Academy 0 - 3 BENFICA ACADEMY
Great start for our Academy in our first match, we had control with 70% possession in game which had not much action.
Rudus, ferro and Caccio scoring our goals, Ferro with the Man of the Match.
Good abs gained.
BENFICA ACADEMY 1 - 3 Leyton Orient Academy
Not sure how we lost this one, well played Ian.
Jota scoring on 69mins, team played well and our midfield picked up good abs.
POMPEY ACADEMY 2 - 2 AFC POMPEY
Our Academy sides draw 2-2, again not much action in the game but a fair result.
Both teams played well and picked up good abs.
Forest Academy 1 - 2 POMPEY ACADEMY
Dominated the match with our possession and we probably should have scored more goals, but good 3pts.
Schmidt and Mnoga scoring in the last 15 mins to steal the points, Joveljic and Romero our two best players.
AFC POMPEY 0 - 0 RSC Anderlecht II Academy
Boring game ans core suggests just that between two of the weaker Academy teams.
Nothing else to report here.

Man Utd start with 2 good wins - 4-2 away at Leyton Orient and 3-1 home to Portimonense. Great having youngsters picking up abs for future promotion to the senior team. I know wins gets the better abs but even losses will move these young lads on. And it means games being played regularly throughout the season.. good luck to all in the U23s....

Solid start but far closer than the scoreline suggests - Zirkzee's clinical hat trick was the difference!
Generally good performances across the board, Bat Meier also had a very good game!

Back down to earth being outplayed at home ....especially after a comedy own goal to go 1 up in the 1st min!
Equaliser on the stroke of half time then a Kelleher howler ..
Only 2 players performed = defenders Hermoso (mom) and Waidner ..
Changes required before our next game ...

A tactical disaster to start the season, long ball meant only 30% possession .. and we werent clinical at all!
3 players turned up - with Gilmour being MOM - and looking to play every week this season ...
Well played Bielsa - your approach was spot on and despite the weaker side you deserved the win!

Closer than the scoreline suggests but on paper the strongest side in the YL should not be sitting bottom after 2 games ..
4 players performed with Chaplin MOM ..
All 3 subs were poor and will not be involved next time around ..

A close game but we nicked it .. an Ake winner with 15 to play ..
7 strong performances and special mention to def Guillamon with 167 abs earned in the match -a star of the future!
Bench were ineffective ..

A 2nd failed attempt at the long ball on the night, and this tactic will now be shelved by Raingod - just 28% possession !!
Camacho was MOM - one of 3 to perform
With gk and fw both called Munoz, this is believed to be confusing the players so one will be dropped for the next game!

MILAN U23s 0-1 Atletico U23s
Disappointed to lose the game, we dominated the match they only had 1 shot on target and scored it.
Capanni was MOM in attack for us, Sohm played well in midfield and we should have won the match.
Arsenal U23s 2 - 0 MILAN U23s
Another disappointing result in a tight match of not much action.
Poor night for the Academy

RSC II's 2 - 2 SPORTING CP ACADEMY
First ever Academy match and have to be happy with a point, very even match with not much action or passing on show.
Paqueta and mendes on target for us, Paqueta was also our best player in the match.
Plata and Quaresma also played well for us in a match devoid of action.

No change in lineup from last round, change in tactics as RSCA have one of the best Academies.
